Short Bio

Xiaoqian Zhang received his M.Sc. in Industrial Design from Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT), China in 2019. After his master’s degree, Xiaoqian joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he spent over four years researching and developing rehabilitation medical devices. Since 2024, he has been pursuing a Ph.D. at the Department of Mechanical, Energy and Management Engineering of the University of Genoa with Prof. Giovanni Berselli, in joint supervision with Prof. Piazza at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His research focuses on the design of upper limb prostheses, covered biomechanical engineering, control system design, and device development. Currently, his research is dedicated to the development of flexible prosthetic hands that align with human sensory perceptions.
