Dependable Wireless Connectivity for Mobile Communications

In this talk, I will discuss research results of the Christian Doppler (CD) Laboratory for Dependable Wireless Connectivity for a Society in Motion. The focus of this CD-lab, established at the Institute of Telecommunications of TU Wien in 2016, is on enhancing the dependability (reliablity and timeliness) of wireless communication links in scenarios with moving users. During this talk, I will provide a broad overview of research spanning from channel characterizations and measurements of V2X communications in the millimeter wave band, over PHY and MAC signal processing enhancements and transceiver optimizations (including multicasting, numerology optimization and non-orthogonal multiple access), to system level approaches for dependable wireless connectivity.
Stefan Schwarz received the Dr. techn. degree in telecommunications engineering and the habilitation (postdoctoral degree) in the field of mobile communications from Technische Universität (TU) Wien, in 2013 and 2019, respectively. From 2008 to 2015, he was with the Institute of Telecommunications (ITC), TU Wien, as a University Assistant, conducting research and 4G and 5G mobile communication systems. Since 2016, he has been the Head of the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Dependable Wireless Connectivity for the Society in Motion, ITC. He currently holds a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor with TU Wien. His research interests are in wireless communications, channel measurements and characterization, link and system level simulations, and signal processing. He is a senior member of IEEE and an associate editor of IEEE Access and EURASIP JWCN.
