Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eckehard Steinbach

Eckehard Steinbach (IEEE M'96, SM'08) studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (Germany), the University of Essex (Great-Britain), and ESIEE in Paris. From 1994 - 2000 he was a member of the research staff of the Image Communication Group at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany), where he received the Engineering Doctorate in 1999. From February 2000 to December 2001 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Information Systems Laboratory of Stanford University. In February 2002 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Munich University of Technology (Germany), where he is currently a Full Professor for Media Technology. His current research interests are in the area of audio-visual-haptic information processing and communication as well as networked and interactive multimedia systems.

Fernanda Brandi M.Sc.

Fernanda Brandi studied Electrical Engineering at the Universidade de Brasilia (Brazil). She received the B.Sc. degree in December of 2006 and the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications in January 2009. After researching at the Digital Signal Processing Group (GPDS) during three years at the Universidade de Brasilia, she joined the Media Technology Group at the Technische Universität München (Germany) in April 2009 to pursue the Ph.D. degree and since then she has been working as a member of the research staff. Her research interests include video and haptic communication with focus on optimizing the signal compression in the presence of communication unreliabilities and offline haptic signal coding. 
 

Rahul Chaudhari M.Sc.

Rahul Chaudhari received a master’s degree in communication systems from the Technische Universität München, Germany in October 2009. His master's thesis focused on haptic signal processing - in particular, compression/reduction - of data for kinesthetic haptic communication. He received an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Engineering) in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University of Pune, India, graduating in June 2006 as the top student in class. 

In January 2010, he joined the Chair of Media Technology at the Technische Universität München where he is now working as a member of the research and teaching staff. His current research focuses on perceptually transparent compression of haptic (vibrotactile) texture signals, and objective evaluation of the perceptual quality of compressed signals.

M.Sc. Burak Cizmeci

Burak Cizmeci received his B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering in 2007, B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering in 2008 and master of science degree in 2009 both from Isik University, Istanbul, Turkey. He worked as a teaching assistant at the department of electronics engineering of Isik University from 2007 to 2010. In September 2010, he joined the Media Technology Group at the Technische Universität München (Germany) to pursue his Ph.D. degree as a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship holder. His research interests include video analysis, coding, de-noising, frame rate up-conversion and super-resolution. Currently, he is working on multimodal multiplexing of audio, video and haptic signals for telepresence and teleaction (TPTA) systems.

Giulia Paggetti Ph. D.

Giulia Paggetti studied Psychology at the University of Florence (Italy). She received the B.Sc. degree in 2002 and the M.Sc. degree in Experimental Psychology in 2008. After a one-year internship, she entered the PhD program in Computer Science at the University of Verona (VIPS Lab) - advisor Prof. Gloria Menegaz. She defended her Thesis on May 3rd, 2012 and she holded a Postdoctoral Fellowship between March and September 2012. From October 2012 till December 2013, she worked with the ProHaptics project the Chair of Media Technology at the Technische Universität München. Her current research focuses on human haptic perception modelling.

Dipl.-Ing. Clemens Schuwerk

Clemens Schuwerk studied Electrical Engineering at the Technische Universität München (Germany). He received the degree "Dipl. Ing. (Univ)" in November 2010. After this he joined the Media Technology Group at the Technische Universität München in March 2011, where he is working as a member of the research staff. His current research interests are in the field of networked haptic virtual environments.

Xiao Xu M.Sc.

Xiao Xu received his B.Sc. degree in Information Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University (China) in 2008 and the M.Sc. degree in Information Engineering in 2011 from Technische Universität München (Germany). After this he joined the Media Technology Group at the Technical University Munich in April 2011, where he is working as a member of the research staff. His current research interests are in the field of perceptual coding of haptic communication and the model-mediated telemanipulation.
