The first Doctoral Research Seminar in 2023 will deal with "A Robotic New Hope: Ethical Questions in regards to the Human-Robot Relationship" by Auxane Boch, Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (IEAI), TUM.

Abstract:

As the knowledge and craft in robotics grow and diversify year after year, robots are being developed for more social purposes. Those social robots bring a new set of opportunities in a number of sectors such as healthcare, education, and companionship. With those opportunities, come ethical questions and challenges to overcome. In this presentation, we will discuss the relationship between humans and social robots, the ethical lance through which it can be analysed, and debate on specific major questions to be asked in regards to social robots implementation.
