PARTICIPANTS WANTED! for a study on posture control and fall prevention

Aim and purpose of the study
Falls and their resulting injuries are a serious global health care problem. The consequences of such injuries can sometimes be fatal or cause irreparable mobility problems, leading to enormous healthcare costs and reduced quality of life for those affected. One of the approaches to improve balance control and prevent falls is the use of biofeedback systems. This study helps us explore different methods of using vibrotactile biofeedback to improve balance control and better integrate such devices into people's daily lives.

You are eligible to take part in this study if you:

  • are 18-55 years old
  • can stand independently with eyes closed
  • do not have any neurological, orthopedic or rheumatic diseases (e.g.: auditory neuropathy, arthrosis, hip joint  problems, knee joint problems, osteoarthritis)
  • do not have any difficulty or pain while standing
  • do not have any difficulty to follow the instructions given by the experimenter (e.g. due to severely reduced  hearing ability, despite correction with a hearing aid, or due to cognitive limitations)
