StMWi project "6G Future Lab Bavaria"
The development and deployment of fifth generation (5G) cellular communication is currently taking place worldwide. Concurrently, relevant scientific and industrial players are beginning to unveil requirements for the next-generation 6G mobile communication network and they are laying the groundwork for its deployment after the year 2030.
Major innovations in 6G will be in terms of smart and ambient adaptive communications, sustainability, availability and security of critical infrastructure. The pilot project "6G Future Lab Bavaria," funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi), will be carried out at the Technical University of Munich over a period of three years starting in the spring of 2021. This pilot project will research novel and fundamental 6G mechanisms, demonstrate their feasibility in a proof-of-concept realization, prepare them with regards to a 6G roadmap, and outline future relevant research questions.
