Power Systems

Power grids are among the largest technical structures on Earth. The generation of energy and the demand by consumers have to be balanced to prevent excessive loads on the power grid that may cause blackouts.

Research questions include

• How can we model power grids for formal analysis?
• How can we leverage reinforcement learning to balance energy generation and consumer-side demands?

Our research in power systems, specifically targeted at reinforcement learning approaches, is implemented in our toolbox CommonPower.
