Student assistant for PR activities (20 hours per week)
The Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Real-time Systems of TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (Prof. Knoll) is engaged in a series of nationally funded research projects focused on future mobility (https://innovation-mobility.com/en/). In order to push the visibility of our projects, the outreach by scientific publications is complemented by traditional Public Relations activities. Sometimes we coordinate these activities on consortium level, sometimes we take action to strengthen just our own footprint in the public. Therefore, we are looking at the earliest date possible for a student assistant for PR activities (20 hours per week)
The area of responsibility includes the performance of dissemination tasks, in particular:
- Support the creation, administration, and marketing of web content in liaison with the researchers working on the project
- Setting up social media channels for the projects (LinkedIn group, Twitter/X account, You Tube channel).
- Collaborating with the partners in these projects to collect their news, publications etc. to make the project website a living document
- Support the creation and approval process of non-promotional campaign materials, such as brochures, presentations, and social media content.

Help coordinate and execute events, such as conferences, meetings, and workshops
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- Interest in mobility topics together with some understanding of the technology implemented in related projects (software engineering, sensor fusion, vision, digital twins etc.) – you do not need to be an expert in these fields, but you need to understand the context and write short blogs
- Excellent knowledge of Word Press and Content Management Systems.
- Proficiency in spoken and written German and English
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, and with a pronounced organizational understanding.

Your main tasks and objectives would be:
- Enhancing the movement of the robot station and operation of the arm,
- Implementing the final top-level workflows for device adjustment,
- Contributing to technical and clinical evaluation of the final demonstrator,
- Cleaning up the scripts and optimizing the workflow,
- Integrating ansible/docker structure in CI,

HiWi in safe reinforcement learning on a real robot.

Your main task will be the implementation of a provably safe shield for RL in XBot2 and the testing in simulation.
You will then deploy the safety shield on our real-world robot.
To show the suitability for RL-based methods, you will test the safety shield with an RL agent on the real hardware.
This project is in close cooperation with our project partners from Fraunhofer Italia and Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia.
If desired, you will have the opportunity to travel with us to Italy and test your software on the project's robot.

HiWi for the development of a PyTorch-based framework for GNN-based research on autonomous driving
We are looking for HiWis that can contribute to our PyTorch-based CommonRoad-Geometric package, which at its core offers a standardized extraction and learning framework for graph neural network-based research on autonomous driving.

Preferred knowledge:
- B.Sc. degree in Informatics or similar
- High language proficiency in Python
- Familiar with best practices for software development and design patterns
- Well-versed in adjacent topics such as testing, deployment and packaging.

The Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Real-Time Systems operates a state-of-art research infrastructure for intelligent transportation systems and infrastructure-assisted autonomous driving on the A9 autobahn and the adjacent urban areas of Garching-Hochbrück near Munich. The 3km long test-field consists of 7 sensor stations equipped with 75 multi-modal sensors and 5 high performance distributed computing nodes interconnected by a high bandwidth backbone network.
We are looking for working student assistants with interest and expertise in one or more of the following fields.
- Machine learning based 3D perception of traffic objects
- Automated sensor calibration, tracking and data fusion
- ROS1 and ROS2 middleware and linux operating systems
- Sensors and sensor-drivers
- V2X communication networks and real-time services
The positions require excellent programming skills in C++ and Python, exposure to machine learning frameworks and ROS middleware, and knowledge of V2X communication protocols.
