Topic Overview
CAMARA project is an open-source initiative under the Linux Foundation, aiming to develop telco-agnostic APIs for developers to simplify access to 5G capabilities. The goal of this project is to provide application developers APIs that they can use in their applications which abstract complex telecom protocols and ensure performant, secure, optimized services to their customers [1].
In the scope of this thesis, the student is expected to build a broker service into the 5G core, which would direct the API calls to the 5G Core to the corresponding network functions. The student is expected to work on the 5G core testbed that is deployed in our chair using the Aether project [2]. Afterwards, selected APIs will be implemented, that are standardised by CAMARA project, and integrated to the 5G core testbed by means of slight modifications to the network functions. Finally, benefits of these APIs for the application developers will be evaluated by developing basic applications that are utilizing the APIs.
